Let’s be honest for a second. There is nothing—and I mean nothing—more tragic than a lonely bottle of vodka sitting on a kitchen counter next to a half-empty box of cereal. It’s functional, sure I guess. But it’s also a little depressing. I remember the first time I walked into my first “real” apartment. I…
I have a vivid memory of a dinner party I hosted a few years ago. It was in a charming (read: incredibly cramped) apartment, and I had just bought a vintage brass bar cart that I was obsessively proud of. I placed it right next to the entryway because, in my head, it screamed, “Welcome!…
I used to think a “home bar” was something only rich people in movies had. You know the type—mahogany walls, a globe that opens up to reveal scotch, and a butler named Jeeves standing by with a towel. My reality was a little different. For years, my “bar” was the top of my refrigerator. To…
I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with trends. On one hand, I’m the first person to get excited about the “color of the year” or that specific wavy mirror everyone on Instagram seems to have right now. But on the other hand, there is nothing worse than looking at your living room two…
I used to be terrified of gold decor. Seriously. For the longest time, I associated anything gold with dusty 1980s hotel lobbies or that specific shade of brass that just screams “dated.” I stuck to safe, boring brushed nickel because I was afraid of making a mistake. But then I saw it—a photo on Pinterest…
I used to think interior design was about buying expensive things. My first attempt at a bar cart was a testament to this flawed logic. I bought a cool shaker I saw on a blog, some funky glasses from a vintage store, and a bright red tray because it was on sale. The result? A…
I still remember my first “adult” apartment in the city. When I say it was small, I am being generous. It was essentially a hallway with a window at the end. I could scramble eggs in the kitchen while kicking my sofa in the living room. It was tight, it was cozy, and frankly, it…
I used to think that to have a “grown-up” home, I needed a massive, dedicated bar cart rolling around my living room like a hydration trolley on an airplane. I coveted those brass-and-glass chariots I saw on Instagram. But then I moved into a place with a living room layout that was, let’s say, challenging….
I’ll never forget the first “fancy” cocktail I tried to make at home. It was a classic whiskey sour, and I was full of confidence. I had the ingredients, a recipe from the internet, and a vision of myself as a suave, effortless host. The reality was… less glamorous. I ended up using a Mason…
I used to treat my bar cart like a storage unit on wheels. Everything I owned related to drinking—every bottle, every glass, every dusty souvenir shot glass—was crammed onto its three tiers. It was functional, in the sense that the items were there, but it was an absolute disaster to look at. To grab the…
